Wednesday, July 25

10:40pm: Chelsea are refusing to sell World Cup winner N’Golo Kante.

The France midfield ace has been a top target for Paris St-Germain all summer, with Barcelona also keen.

It’s been claimed PSG and Chelsea had been in advanced talks over a potential £100m sale for the 27-year-old.

But a Chelsea source has told Starsport: “There is absolutely no chance Chelsea are going to sell Kante.”

10:15pm: Xherdan Shaqiri says Jurgen Klopp played a key role in his move to Liverpool.

“When I heard the club wanted me I wanted to come because I’ve known him a long time. I’ve admired him for a long time and I am really happy to be here,” he said.

“Jurgen Klopp is a great person and a great character with a winning mentality and that’s the most important thing.”

1040pm: Chelsea are refusing to sell World Cup winner N’Golo Kante.

The France midfield ace has been a top target for Paris St-Germain all summer, with Barcelona also keen.

But the Blues and new boss Maurizio Sarri won’t let him go.

It’s been claimed PSG and Chelsea had been in advanced talks over a potential £100m sale for the 27-year-old.

But a Chelsea source revealed last night: “There is absolutely no chance Chelsea are going to sell Kante.”

9:45pm: Swansea striker Andre Ayew has joined Turkish club Fenerbahce on a one-year loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The 28-year-old only rejoined the Swans from West Ham in January in a club-record deal on a three-and-a-half-year contract but his time in south Wales appears to be up.

9:15pm: Fulham have signed Andre Schurrle from Borussia Dortmund on a two-year loan deal.

“I’m so happy to be here, I can’t wait to get started,” he told the club website. “Fulham were the first club that showed interest in me – that was something that I appreciated a lot, and one of the reasons I wanted to come here.

“I love ball possession, I love attacking, and I love making runs, so I think it could be perfect. I have to fight for my place and I have to show my quality so that I can be a member who really helps the team.”

8:45pm: Manchester United have been tipped to secure a stunning deal for Bayern Munich ace Arturo Vidal by the bookies.

BetStars director of Trading Ian Marmion told Starsport: “Bayern may have given Vidal the green light to depart the Allianz Arena this summer after the Chilean was omitted from their pre-season tour, which has put a trio Europe’s elite clubs on high alert.

“Manchester United are the clear favourites at 6/4 to sign the 31-year-old midfielder as they look to bring in midfield reinforcements before the start of the new season.”

8:00pm: Newcastle target Fabian Schar underwent a medical on Tyneside this afternoon ahead of his expected move to St James’ Park.

Sky Sports say the Toon have activated the Deportivo La Coruna star’s £3m release clause and a deal is close.

7:15pm: Manchester City have signed 18-year-old French defensive midfielder Claudio Gomes from Paris St-Germain.

Gomes made five appearances for the Ligue 1 champions’ Under-23 side in the UEFA Youth League last season.

City said in the statement: “Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Claudio Gomes.

“Gomes is quick, strong and an excellent tackler with great vision and energy. Everyone at Manchester City would like to welcome Claudio to the Club.”

6:30pm: Brighton have confirmed their club-record £17m signing of AZ Alkmaar star Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

The 24-year-old Iran winger has signed a five-year contract with the Seagulls and becomes their eighth summer signing.

Jahanbakhsh has been capped 41 times by Iran and featured in all three games for his country at the World Cup in Russia.

6:15pm: Wolves have signed Atletico Madrid full-back Jonny Castro on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old defender moves to Molineux immediately after joining Atletico on a permanent deal from Celta Vigo.

He has signed a six-year deal with Atletico, having made over 200 senior appearances for Celta.

6:00pm: Atalanta have signed Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic on loan.

The Croatia international spent last season with Russian top-flight club Spartak Moscow, where he made 21 league appearances, scoring four goals.

The 23-year-old was on loan at Atalanta’s Serie A rivals AC Milan two years ago and will look to continue his development in Italy this term.

5:30pm: Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie has joined former club Feyenoord on a season-long loan.

The 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Club Brugge, has returned to the Dutch club where the Saints signed him from in 2015.

5:00pm: Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham are working hard to sign new stars – but will not make rash decisions over transfers.

“We’re working hard trying to improve the squad,” Pochettino said. “The market has only started to move very quickly after the World Cup.

“Be sure that we are going to do some movement but like always, we’re working hard [but will make] no rash decisions.

“I’m not worried, I’m happy preparing the team to arrive in the best condition for the first Premier League game.”

4:30pm: Long-term Premier League target and Portugal winger Gelson Martins signed for Atletico Madrid as a free agent on a six-year deal after leaving Sporting.

“We have been watching him over the last year and we saw him in the Europa League,” Atletico manager Diego Simeone said.

“He will bring us added strength on the right hand side of the attack and can even play in an attacking trio.”

4:00pm: Allan Rodrigues de Souza has signed a contract extension at Liverpool.

And the Brazilian midfielder has immediately completed a season-long loan move to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 21-year-old, who has recently had loan spells with Hertha Berlin and Apollon Limassol, has committed his long-term future to the Reds by penning fresh terms.

3.15pm: Manuel Pellegrini has spoken with Javier Hernandez and intends to keep him at West Ham.

The Mexico international is poised to return to training tomorrow, having been given an extended summer break.

Asked whether he had spoken with Chicharito about his future, Pellegrini told Starsport: “I spoke with Javier before he played at the World Cup.

“When I signed here, I told him that he would be a very important player here with me.”

2pm: Veteran goalkeeper Rob Green is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea later today.

The former England international is set to act as backup to Thibaut Courtois for the Blues under Maurizio Sarri.

If Courtois opts to leave for Real Madrid, Chelsea are expected to buy a big-name replacement for the Belgian.

Green is expected to sign a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

1.15pm: Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has turned his attention to joining Chelsea from Lazio.

The Serbia midfielder seemed set to conclude a deal with United before the World Cup.

But complications with his Lazio contract and asking price ultimately put the Red Devils off as they eventually signed Fred.

United and Real Madrid are continuing to track Milinkovic-Savic, though Chelsea are now the 23-year-old’s preferred choice, according to The Independent.

The Blues, who recently signed Jorginho from Napoli, are expected to bid if any rival clubs make a move.

Transfer news LIVE updates: Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign two more players

11.40am: Chelsea could lose star man Eden Hazard this summer with Real Madrid looking to the winger to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Los Blancos have put the Belgian at the top of their wish list after Ronaldo left for Juventus in a £99m move.

Spanish outlet Don Balon, known for their bold and outlandish transfer claims, say Hazard has set Real Madrid a deadline to get a move done.

The 27-year-old is said to be worried a switch might not materialise with Chelsea demanding £200m to sell him.

And Hazard has reportedly told Real Madrid they must get a deal done by the August 9 transfer deadline or he could stay at the Blues in the long-term.

10am: Manchester United forward Anthony Martial could move to Tottenham in a swap deal for Toby Alderweireld, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

“Anthony Martial’s future could be the big talking point of the transfer window,” he told the Transfer Talk podcast.

“Chelsea have entered the fray and I have said plenty of times that Spurs have a longstanding interest in Martial and I still stand by that.

“There may even be a deadline day swap between him and Toby Alderweireld, who knows. There will still be plenty to go in the last few weeks.

“Chelsea, we know they are interested but they are yet to make a formal offer. Sky in Germany are saying Bayern Munich will only make a move if United lower their valuation of the player – you’d say unlikely.

9.15am: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed how many signings he wants to make before the transfer window shuts.

“One thing is what I would like,” he told ESPN FC.

“Another thing is what is going to happen.”

Asked directly how many new signings he would like the Special One was quick to say his side needed two new faces to arrive.

He explained: “I would get two more players.”

8.45am: Emre Can has opened up on his relationship with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp following his departure from Anfield to join Juventus.

“Not a lot of managers would let you play so many times when you are in the final year of your contract,” explained Can.

“My relationship with Klopp was always good. He wished me all the best when I told him I was leaving.

“But I always did my best. I always wanted to help the team.

“That is what he saw. That is why he kept faith with me.”

8.15am: Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a bid for Tottenham star Hugo Lloris, meaning Thibaut Courtois looks set to stay at Chelsea.

According to The Sun, the Spurs is now being primed for a £60m bid from Los Blancos.

The European champions are keen on strengthening in the goalkeeper department this summer, with a number of targets identified.

Courtois had been top of the list after a number of hints made by the Belgian.

The 26-year-old’s children still live in the Spanish capital from his time at Atletico Madrid, where he spent three years.

7.45am: Arsenal hero Ray Parlour believes Danny Welbeck could be plotting to leave Arsenal this summer.

“It’s possible Danny Welbeck might look to leave Arsenal this summer,” he said.

“There’s a lot of competition for places and he’s at that age where he really needs to be playing every week.

“He’s an important asset for Arsenal coming off the bench due to his versatility.

“But he doesn’t have the finishing skills needed to be above the likes of [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, [Alexandre] Lacazette, [Mesut] Ozil or [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan in the pecking order.”
