Fekir to Liverpool back on?

Liverpool target Nabil Fekir is still pushing for a move to Anfield before the transfer window shuts.

That’s according to one Liverpool fan who recently met the Lyon midfielder.

Liverpool fan Noor Patterson claims the 25-year-old still has his heart set on a switch to Merseyside.

The Liverpool supporter posted a photo with Fekir with the following caption detailing an alleged conversation that took place between them:

“Me: “Still waiting for you to join Liverpool.”

“Fekir: “*laughs* yeah yeah inshallah.””

Inshallah translates to God willing.

With Fekir supposedly still keen on leaving Lyon it will be down to the Reds to try and negotiate with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Klopp expecting departures

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is expecting several departures from his squad following the arrivals of four players this transfer window.

The German says it is important players get the opportunity to play regularly, even if that means being loaned out.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “In the end, it makes no sense to have 35 players in the squad because developing players means they have to feel needed; they need to see ‘in this or this situation, I can play in the team’ and all that stuff.

“I am pretty sure a few things will happen, but exactly what time will show.

“When all the players are back the squad is big, so it is clear they all need opportunities to play.

“The ones who are very young, we don’t think about it; they are in absolutely the right place now and if they can play with us or the U23s, it is perfect.”

Mass exodus

Liverpool are expected to say goodbye to a number of their players as manager Jurgen Klopp attempts to streamline his squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

According to The Mirror, the Reds could generate as much as £100million from sales with the likes of Danny Ings and Divock Origi moving on this summer.

The strikers are valued at around £20m and £27m respectively, while one of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet are also expected to leave the club.

Several youth players could also depart on loan.

Reds name Origi price

Liverpool want £27million to sell Divock Origi this summer, according to reports.

The Belgian has struggled to impress in pre-season off the back of a disappointing loan spell at Wolfsburg last term.

But the Reds want £27m if they for the 23-year-old, who has been attracting interest from La Liga side Valencia.

Jurgen Klopp could also recoup £20m for Danny Ings with as many as seven permanent first-team departures possible before August 9.

Joel Matip injured

Joel Matip will leave Liverpool’s pre-season tour after picking up a thigh injury in the friendly against Borussia Dortmund

Liverpool lost 3-1 against Dortmund at the weekend but while the result won’t concern Jurgen Klopp too much, a knock in the first half to Matip certainly will.

He was forced off after just 17 minutes amid fears he had aggravated a previous injury which abruptly ended his 2017/18 campaign.

Klopp confirmed after the match that it was a different injury, but couldn’t reveal the extent of the knock.

“It’s not the same injury [as the one he suffered last season]”, Klopp said. “It’s another muscle – it looks like, hopefully, only a little tear.”

He added: “We will see, but we cannot say anymore about it now. It is of course the most negative thing about the day. It’s not cool. Things like this can happen, but you don’t want them to. Maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we will know more, but in this moment we only know that it was too painful for him to carry on.”

Daniel Sturridge happy

Daniel Sturridge says he feels ‘at home again’ as he continues to shine for the Reds in pre-season.

“I’m enjoying myself and enjoying my football. I can’t ask for any more,” he told Liverpool’s official website. “I love it here. I love the lads and the banter in the group is unbelievable.

“I feel at home again. I’m just happy to be back and to push myself and be part of the group again.

“When I went away I learned too. That’s also a good thing. When you’re not involved in the environment you learn a lot about yourself, the team, watching from afar and seeing how the team are playing.

“You can learn more when you’re outside the environment. I learned a lot watching the games the boys were playing in and also being away and being in a different team’s environment and seeing how they work too.”

More signings!

Former Liverpool winger Harry Kewell has urged Jurgen Klopp to keep spending.

The Reds have already invested heavily this summer with Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho brought on board.

But Kewell reckons the forward trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah need one extra addition to make the attack tick.

“With City having that exceptional season every other team has been overshadowed,” Kewell told Express Sport. “But they’re definitely heading in the right direction.

“Their front three are phenomenal but I believe they need someone else as well. Just in case something happens to one of them. So they do need another world-class striker.”

Loris Karius leaving?!

Loris Karius wants to leave the club this summer after Jurgen Klopp’s decision to sign Alisson.

The German’s clangers in the Champions League final handed Europe’s biggest prize to Real Madrid back in May.

And Klopp has sought to reinforce his defence in recent weeks, bringing in goalkeeper Alisson for £66.8m.

But according to the Telegraph, Karius feels disappointed that his manager has not backed him to remain as the Reds’ No 1.

The shot-stopper also feels let down after Klopp’s answer to questions regarding his future.

The Liverpool boss said Karius still had a role to play at Liverpool, but confirmed Alisson would be the club’s first choice ‘keeper.

Nabil Fekir to Real Madrid

Liverpool’s pursuit of Nabil Fekir might have finished, but Real Madrid are just getting started.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, who claim the Champions League holders want Fekir to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

They suggest Liverpool have now ‘thrown the towel in’ on bringing Fekir to Anfield.

And continue to say that the French World Cup winner is considered a genuine alternative to Chelsea star Eden Hazard should the Belgian remain at Stamford Bridge.

Reds fighting to sign the ‘next Ousmane Dembele’

Liverpool are one of a number of clubs looking to sign Senegal star Ismaila Sarr, reports claim.

The Rennes winger drew plaudits for his displays at the World Cup and has subsequently been linked with a host of European heavyweights.

The Sun claim Sarr, 20, is now being tracked by Arsenal, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool with some sending scouts to monitor his progress.

“He is very fast with an excellent technique,” Thierno Seydi, Sarr’s agent, told SunSport. “He has the same qualities as Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona. They are similar players.

“I have received many calls from English and German clubs and maybe even one from Italy. Many agents from the UK have called me proposing to work with them and Ismaila to get him to the Premier League. One Italian agent asked to speak with Juventus. The price will be around 50-60m Euros (£44m-£53m).”

Diogo Leite frenzy

Liverpool and Arsenal reportedly face fresh competition in the race to sign Diogo Leite.

Leite has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest prospects since breaking onto the scene with Porto B.

And his performances in the UEFA Youth League last season turned the heads of scouts from a cluster of Premier League big boys.

German magazine Kicker indicate Liverpool have set their sights on Leite as they look to continue their summer spending.

While Arsenal, as well as Manchester City, have shown interest in prising him away from Porto ahead of the oncoming season too.

Buying Leite from Porto will not come at a considerable cost due to the relatively modest £13.4m (€15m) release clause written into his contract.

However, Liverpool, Arsenal and City have now seen another side enter the fray to secure the highly-rated 19-year-old’s signature.

Kicker have followed up claims that Borussia Monchengladbach are keen on Leite and confirmed the Bundesliga outfit’s desire to get him on-board.

Nabil Fekir contract

Lyon have offered Nabil Fekir a new contract.

That’s according to French publication L’Equipe, who claim Lyon have NO offers on the table for their talented World Cup winner.

The report continues to state that Liverpool, who were close to signing Fekir, haven’t returned with another bid for one of two reasons.

Either they are worried about the player’s medical condition, or they are not prepared to meet Lyon’s valuation.

The newspaper also alludes to Chelsea’s interest should Eden Hazard decide to leave the club.
