Transfer News LIVE updates: Is Lucas Torreira’s move to Arsenal in doubt? Why Man Utd are set to sign goalkeeper Lee Grant, Liverpool’s latest done deal and much more.

Saturday, June 30

According to Sky Sports, Leeds are interested in taking another Chelsea player on loan ahead of his debut campaign in England.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa reportedly wants goalkeeper Jamal Blackman after securing a deal for Lewis Baker.

Blackman, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea, spent last season on-loan at Championship rivals Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old keeper made 33 appearances across all competitions, conceding 35 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets.

He’s also spent time at Swedish outfit Ostersunds FK and Wycombe Wanderers.

12.40pm: Starsport understands Rangers are close to landing Angers holding midfielder Lassana Coulibaly.

The Ibrox side are nearing an agreement with Angers to sign the 22-year-old Mali international on a season-long loan.

The move is subject to a work permit being approved.

Gerrard hopes to wrap up a move before Rangers’ Europa League qualifying opener against FC Shkupi at Ibrox on July 12.

11am: Lucas Torreira’s move from Sampdoria to Arsenal is DONE, according to the Italian press.

Torreira has been linked with a switch to the Premier League club for several weeks.

He’s currently away with Uruguay at the World Cup but is expected to return from Russia and sign on the dotted line for the north London giants.

And Italian newspaper Il SecoloXIX, which is based in Genoa where Torreira plays his club football for Sampdoria, claim the deal taking him to Arsenal is ‘done’.

9.30am: Leeds United have completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker, who will spend the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Elland Road.

The 23-year-old is the first summer arrival at the Championship club and the first signing under new manager Marcelo Bielsa.

A club statement read: “Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of Lewis Baker from Premier League side Chelsea.

“The midfielder has joined Leeds on a season-long loan deal and becomes the club’s first arrival of the summer transfer window.”

8.35am: Paris St-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is unlikely to join Manchester United this summer – because he’s too small!

Journalist Duncan Castles said on The Transfer Window Podcast: “I’d be surprised if Jose Mourinho was wiling to countenance a [Paul Pogba] swap-plus-cash deal.

“Verratti is not the tallest of midfielders, and Jose Mourinho has already signed an uncharacteristically small midfielder in Fred to knit the defence and attack.

“Fred will be a starter and I can not imagine a Mourinho midfield with two players of such diminutive stature.”

7.30am: Stoke have set their sights on Everton defender Ashley Williams, according to The Guardian.

The Wales international only joined the Goodison Park outfit last summer but has had a nightmare season with the Toffees.

And new Stoke manager Gary Rowett has identified Williams as the key man to guiding the Potters back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

5.00am: Marouane Fellaini has signed a new contract with Manchester United – and fans are NOT happy.

The Belgium international’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of June, but United have handed him fresh terms that tie him to the club until 2020.

And now many of these fans seems to have reacted angrily to the contract renewal.

“I’ll be ringing the ticket office later to cancel my season ticket, it’s an absolute disgrace he’s been allowed to stay,” wrote one angry Man Utd fan on Twitter.

Another added: “I’m gutted. Thought we’d move on to better things.”

A third Twitter user called for Jose Mourinho’s head after hearing the news, writing: “Jose out. I personally feel he is ruining what Manchester United has historically been about and the reason I chose them as my club.

3.00am: Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has been urged to come back to the Premier League by former Tottenham team-mate Jermain Defoe.

It was reported last week that Bale had still not met with Real chiefs to resolve his future.

“I would love to see him back in the Premier League, I think everyone would be excited about that,” Defoe told Sky Sports.

“He has been linked with everyone. There is talk about him staying in Madrid, I’ve seen Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United. More United than any other club but I’ve even seen [Man] City.

“The Premier League suits him. If he came back there would be a massive buzz.”

1.30am: Leeds may need just two or three more players to become successful next season.

Speaking exclusively to Starsport, Kamara said: “It’s easy for me being the pundit and looking from the outside and saying they should do this, they should do that.

“I’ve been there – I’ve been in situations when it never appears the same on the inside as it looks on the outside.

“The new manager might get in there and think it isn’t for me and change it all around.

“But, if Leeds are fortunate, they’ll just add two or three players and be successful.”

12.00am: Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has played down a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings, insisting he is happy with his current options.

Rodgers was full of praise for the 25-year-old but revealed he is not in the market for another striker.

“Danny (Ings) is a fantastic player and has been really, really unfortunate for a few years with injury but I have got the three strikers at the moment and we don’t need any more,” he said.

“We just signed young Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal and he is a class act.”

8:00pm: Manchester United are still in the hunt for Real Madrid star Toni Kroos, according to the bookies.

BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion told Starsport: “Germany’s catastrophic exit from the World Cup doesn’t appear to have hampered Toni Kroos’ transfer prospects this summer with a quartet of Premier League big guns eyeing up a big-money swoop for the experienced midfielder during the transfer window.

“Manchester United could target the 28-year-old as the man to fill the leadership void left by Michael Carrick at Old Trafford next season and the Red Devils lead the field as the 3/1 favourites to sign the Real Madrid star.

“Manchester City sit just behind at 5/1 to reunite Kroos with his former Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola at the Etihad next season.

“Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are priced at 7/1 to add the Germany international to their ranks, while Chelsea are in with an outsiders chance at 11/1 to land the World Cup winner this summer.”

7:00pm: Barcelona star Jasper Cillessen wants to pack his bags – and Lionel Messi isn’t happy.

The Dutch international played second fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen last season.

He was regularly deployed in the Copa del Rey and – according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon – Messi is a massive fan.

The diminutive superstar thinks Cillessen has an important role to play next term and was impressed with his cup cameos.

But Cillessen is fed up with being an understudy and is reportedly angling for an exit.

Liverpool have been touted as potential suitors and Don Balon say the 29-year-old is keen on an Anfield switch.

6:00pm: Pep Guardiola is close to snapping up Ipswich youngster Ben Knight.

The Spaniard look set to cough up £1m to secure the 16-year-old’s signature, according to the East Anglian Times.

It’s suggested former Prem star Kieron Dyer – who now coaches at Ipswich’s academy – has compared the forward to Lionel Messi.

Knight was reportedly due to start a two-scholarship with the Championship side.

Manchester City, however, made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.

5.10pm: Simon Mignolet is ready for talks with Jurgen Klopp over his Liverpool future after the World Cup.

Mignolet lost his place to Loris Karis last term and wants to know where he stands.

“I am going to look at my situation when I come back from the World Cup.

“I can’t say much more. I don’t know how long I will have off after the tournament. I need to speak to the manager about that.”

4.15pm: Calum Chambers is set to sign a new Arsenal contract TODAY.

BBC journalist David Ornstein revealed the news on Twitter.

He posted: “Calum Chambers will today sign a new 4yr contract with Arsenal to keep him there until 2022. Only signed 2yr extension in Oct 2017 that tied him down until 2021 but new head coach Unai Emery sees huge potential in 23yo + wants him to compete for starting berth at centre-back.”

3.25pm: Manchester United are favourites to land Leonardo Bonucci from AC Milan.

Bonucci has been linked with an exit after the Serie A club were kicked out of Europe for financial mismanagement.

And Betstars think he could be off to Old Trafford: “Manchester United have emerged as the clear favourites at 6/4 to become the 31-year-old centre-back’s chosen destination this summer as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season.”

1.30pm: Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has promised fans there will be more incomings this summer.

He said at a Q&A: “We really have a collective effort now, in terms of how we identify players and then how we take forward our interest and of course Unai is a huge part of that as well.

“This is now a different way of doing things, one with a very, very accomplished team of professionals who we have spent time bedding into the club.

“Unai has been in the thick of that process in terms of what we need in the squad, we’ve signed two new players so far this summer and there will be more to come.”

11.30am: Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal has welcomed suggestions that Neymar could join from PSG.

“If he was born to play in Madrid, I don’t know,’ he told Cadena SER.

“Neymar is one of the best players in the world, and Madrid always try and get the best to play with us.

“He is an excellent player who would bring us many good things. So if the president has decided to sign him, we’ll have to keep him a locker.”

10.20am: Ruben Loftus-Cheek should leave Chelsea as quick as he can if he isn’t going to be guaranteed game time, according to Sam Allardyce.

“It depends on Antonio Conte,” he exclusively told Starsport.

“Is he going to play for Chelsea? If you’re going to play for Chelsea, and certainly he’s showing that he’s good enough to play for Chelsea, that’s his dream club obviously.

“Look what going on loan has done for him.

“If Loftus-Cheek hadn’t gone on loan to Crystal Palace this season he would be nowhere near the World Cup squad.

“And because he’s gone to Crystal Palace at 22, which is far too late in his career, look what he’s achieved.

“So if he’s got no future at Chelsea then get to a Premier League club as quick as you can and shine and continue to grow.”

8.30am: Kostas Manolas has reportedly told Chelsea he has no intention of leaving Roma this summer in another transfer blow.

The Blues have made a new centre-back their top priority this summer as they look to boost their backline.

Several stars have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge including Manolas, Kalidou Koulibaly, Daniele Rugani and Jamaal Lascelles.

But they have suffered a knockback in their transfer plans after the Greek defender rejected their advances, according to CalcioMercato.

7.30am: Jack Wilshere is reportedly in Turkey finalising a move to Fenerbahce.

The midfielder is out of contract this summer and he announced earlier this month that he’d be leaving his boyhood club following a meeting with new boss Unai Emery.

The 26-year-old was keen to stay with the Gunners but is determined to get regular playing time and has been linked with West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton.

However according to Turkish journalist Volkan Demir, Wilshere is set to try his hand in the Turkish Super Lig.

He tweeted: “Jack Wilshere left Istanbul today. The information I received is over.

“Fenerbahce’s first transfer to be good. I expect the transfer to be confirmed on Monday.”

6am: Real Madrid have answered to rumours that they lowered Cristiano Ronaldo’s release clause to £100million.

Several reports emerged in the Spanish and English press stating that his release clause had been lowered by £886m to £100m.

The reports stated that new boss Julen Lopetugui was ready to bin the Portuguese star and build a new team.

But the European champions have since come out and rubbished those claims, according to Marca.

3am: The bookies believe Bayern Munich are leading Manchester United in the race to sign Germany striker Timo Werner.

Bookmakers Coral price the RB Leipzig star at 7-4 to join Bayern while Jose Mourinho’s United are currently trailing with odds of 5-1.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead told Starsport: “As one of the hottest prospects in German football playing away from Bayern Munich, it seems very likely that the Bavarian club will try to lure him away from Leipzig.

12am: United star Paul Pogba remains France’s main leader at the World Cup despite the criticism against him, team-mate Thomas Lemar says.

“He’s leading us all, he’s smiling, he’s also giving is good advice,” Lemar said.

“He’s a guy who like to take responsibilities and he’s doing it well in this tournament. I hope it will go on like that for him and us in the competition.”

France take on Argentina in the last-16 of the World Cup this Saturday.

Thursday June 28

8pm: The bookies believe Bayern Munich are leading Manchester United in the race to sign Germany striker Timo Werner.

“We think they’re the probable destination should he leave this summer, which will come as a blow to Manchester United.”

6.25pm: Romelu Lukaku is wanted by Real Madrid this summer with Los Blancos ready to offer Cristiano Ronaldo in a huge swap deal to Manchester United.

That’s according to reports in Spain that claim the Champions League winners want the Belgian to replace Karim Benzema.

Lukaku has impressed at the World Cup, netting four times in the first two group matches.

Diario Gol, known for their extravagant transfer claims, say Real are ready to offer United £44m (€50m) and Ronaldo for the 25-year-old.

The reports claim the Red Devils are interested in the 33-year-old Portugal star.

And they even say contact has been made between United and Real Madrid over Ronaldo.

5pm: Roma are confident defender Kostas Manolas will not be heading to Chelsea.

“I’ve spoken to Kostas three or four times, he enjoys my job and might make a decent Director of Football himself,” Roma chief Monchi revealed at a press conference.

“He’s happy with the team and wants to stay.

“I’ve read that Chelsea want to pay the buyout clause, but I haven’t heard anything.

“I feel calm.”
